Ongoing

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

SIL is ongoing support in a shared home for participants who need help with everyday tasks day to day. You have your own furnished bedroom and share the living areas, kitchen and laundry with a small number of housemates. Support levels are set by your NDIS plan and agreed with you before you move in.

Up to 14 days

Short-Term Accommodation (STA)

Short-Term Accommodation, often called respite, covers a stay of up to 14 days at a time. It gives family and carers a genuine break, and gives participants a change of scene with support, activities and meals included. Our Short-Term Accommodation in Adelaide is staffed and fully furnished, and STA is commonly funded under Core supports in an NDIS plan.

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)

Medium-Term Accommodation in Adelaide can be funded for up to 90 days, which is usually long enough to bridge the gap without anyone having to rush a decision.

Questions about supported accommodation

What is the difference between STA, MTA and SIL?

Short-Term Accommodation (STA) is a stay of up to 14 days at a time, usually as respite. Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) is up to 90 days for participants who have a long-term home confirmed but cannot move in yet. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is ongoing support in a home you live in permanently. They are funded differently in an NDIS plan, so it is worth checking which one you have before you look.

Can you help with urgent or emergency accommodation in Adelaide?

We consider urgent referrals, including same-day and next-day requests from support coordinators, hospital social workers and families. Whether we can help depends on what is free at the time and whether we can safely meet the person’s support needs, so please call rather than emailing.

Does NDIS funding cover accommodation?

NDIS funding covers the disability-related support you receive in the accommodation, and in the case of STA it also covers the stay itself. Everyday living costs such as rent, food and utilities are generally paid by the participant, as they would be in any home. We set out exactly what is funded and what is not before you move in.

Can I visit before I move in?

Yes, and we encourage it. You are welcome to visit the property, meet the team and, where the household agrees, meet the people already living there before making any decision.

Can I keep my existing support workers or therapists?

In most cases, yes. Many participants keep their own allied health team and community supports when they move in. We will talk through how that works alongside the support we provide in the home.

Do you take participants who are not self-managed?

Yes. We work with self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed participants.
